The Beauty of the Written Word

Hello and welcome! I’m so glad you’re here. For me, a large part of calligraphy is connecting with fellow lovers of beautifully written words and the deep meaning they carry.

My name is Aliya. I am a primary school teacher turned calligrapher. My journey into the world of lettering began with a humble project: I decided my spice jar labels needed an upgrade. True story! Naturally, they had to be hand-lettered, not printed. What started as a simple weekend project quickly grew into an all-consuming passion for Copperplate calligraphy. I spent every spare moment attending workshops, studying books and analysing the techniques of master artists.

Beyond mastering the skill, I discovered how calming and meditative the process was. It became my ultimate creative outlet. Eventually, I realised I wanted to share this mindful craft with others while creating lasting mementos and bespoke artwork.

After leaving my 13-year career in primary education, I redirected my teaching background toward helping others discover their creative voice. While I am still an educator, my classroom looks a little different now: I teach the art of Copperplate calligraphy to students of all levels. Beyond the classroom, I also offer bespoke lettering art, handwritten letters, custom engraving, and hot foiling services.
